Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

GrindMeta ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website grindmeta.com (the "Site"), an unofficial fan resource and database for games including Crimson Desert and No Rest for the Wicked. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Site, how we use it, and what rights you have.

If you have questions about this policy, contact us at [email protected].

2. Information we collect

2.1 Information you provide directly

  • Account data. If you create an account to save builds, we store your email address and a per-user identifier used to authenticate you via magic link.
  • User-generated content. Builds, comments, votes, and other content you submit to the Site.
  • Contact data. Any information you voluntarily include when you email us.

2.2 Information collected automatically

  • Technical data. IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring URL, pages viewed, and timestamps. This is collected by our content delivery provider (Cloudflare) for security, performance, and basic traffic analytics.
  • Analytics data. Where enabled, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics and may in the future use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the Site. These services may use cookies and similar technologies.
  • Advertising data. If and when we enable third-party advertising (for example, Google AdSense), those providers may collect data to serve and measure ads. This is gated behind your consent where required.

3. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies as described in our Cookie Policy. On your first visit, we ask you to accept, reject, or customize non-essential cookies. You can change your choice at any time using the "Cookie Preferences" link at the bottom of every page.

4. How we use your information

  • Operate, maintain, and secure the Site.
  • Authenticate your account and let you save and share builds.
  • Measure traffic and improve site performance and content.
  • Respond to your questions and support requests.
  • Serve relevant advertising (only where you have consented).
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

5. Legal bases (for users in the EEA and UK)

We rely on the following legal bases under the GDPR and UK GDPR:

  • Consent — for non-essential cookies, analytics, and advertising.
  • Contract — to provide account and build features you explicitly request.
  • Legitimate interests — to keep the Site secure, prevent abuse, and understand aggregate usage, in a way that does not override your rights.
  • Legal obligation — where we must process data to comply with applicable law.

6. Third-party services we use

  • Cloudflare — content delivery, DDoS protection, and Web Analytics. Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
  • Google (planned) — Google Analytics 4 and/or Google AdSense may be enabled in the future, subject to your consent. Google Privacy Policy.
  • Email delivery provider — used to send magic link sign-in emails.

7. Sharing your information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with the service providers listed above, or when required by law, legal process, or to protect our rights, users, or the public.

8. International transfers

GrindMeta and its service providers may process data in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

9. Data retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described above, or as required by law. Account data is kept until you delete your account or request deletion. Analytics data is kept in aggregate form.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information; to object to or restrict certain processing; to withdraw consent; and to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.

California residents (CCPA/CPRA) also have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell personal information), and to be free from discrimination for exercising these rights.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected].

11. Children

The Site is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

12. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for material changes, we may prompt you to review the updated policy.
